International Central Gospel Church Founder, Dr. Mensah Otabil has been commended as one of the prominent figures resolving the devastating unemployment issues facing most Ghanaians in the country.

At age 60, his works, including his University; the Central University and the many branches of his church across the country are evidence that Mr. Otabil is doing great for the country and more especially for the youth, according to Founder and head pastor of the Calvary Charismatic Centre (CCC), Reverend Ransford Obeng.

Mr. Obeng, speaking at a service to mark Mr. Otabil’s 60th birthday Sunday, touted him as one of the biggest influences in the country, having served in the interest of the nation by providing jobs for Ghanaians through his projects and initiatives. “Indeed at the age of 60, God has really blessed you.

In fact, you have broken the record in your family. Nobody has been able to do what you have done at this age of 60”. “Not only that, but you have been a blessing to this nation, in fact, if we are talking about people who have given employment to people, people who are solving our employment problems in Ghana, I want all of you people, the media people, listen to me, Dr. Mensah Otabil is one of the people”.

Through him, we have over 900 branches of this church and even the smallest church of ICGC employs 5 people because you have the pastor, you have secretary, you have a caretaker, you have watchmen, so even the least congregation employs 5 people times 900.

Besides that, we are not talking about the university yet, look at all the employment and the many people that he has been able to inspire”, he said. The CCC Pastor encouraged Christians to go beyond their limitations and expectations to trust God for more blessings.

He was however emphatic about the need for one to stick to their God and not turn away from him because they have been given wealth. “Never limit your God because he is a God of much more. God doesn’t have a problem of giving you 1000 cars, etc. the problem God has is that if he blesses you, your heart will not turn to follow the blessing” Unemployment has over the years been a huge subject of concern for citizens, stakeholders and governments as the number of unemployed persons on the streets increasingly become more.

The recent revocation of licenses by the Bank of Ghana has even added more recently to the numbers as many were left jobless, leaving government with a much bigger task of dealing with the issue and providing jobs for its own.
