NPP ASAWASE RACE: "I’m Not Stepping Down . . .” – Manaf Ibrahim

Tuesday, 30 July 2019

Mr. Manaf Ibrahim, who is vying for the parliamentary candidature of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asawase Constituency, has said he would not step down for any candidate.

He said he had the clout, exposure, track record and the vim to lead the NPP to victory and could not imagine himself being influenced to step down for another candidate.

Manaf Ibrahim was speaking in an interview on Ashh Fm’s National Agenda after the Regional Executive Committee unanimously declared that, the three (3) Orphan Constituencies in the region shall sponsor the candidatures of Hon. Alidu Seidu, MCE- Asokore Mampong, Hon. Salisu Bamba, MCE – Ejura Sekyeredumasi and Hon. Joseph Owusu, DCE – Sekyere Afram Plains as sole candidates for the Asawasi, Ejura Sekyeredumasi and Sekyere Afram Plains respectively. According to the party, this action is in line with the party’s strategy to annex these three (3) constituencies.

A statement issued and signed by the Regional Secretary Samuel Pyne says the party is resolved to make sure that, all other actions are in tune with Article 12,(I) of the party’s constitution and all party members are enjoined to abide by this resolution.

Party members who flout this directive shall be sanctioned according to the rules and regulations of the party’s constitution.

Speaking to sit-in -host Nana Amankwah Foxzy on Ashh FM's National Agenda' programme, Manaf Ibrahim called on the delegates to give him the nod to lead the party stating emphatically "I have the strength, the tenacity, the capacity, the ability; both intellectually and practically to be able to lead the NPP at Asawase”.

He called the bluff on the regional executive committee’s directive and stated emphatically that he is contesting the primaries and nothing can stop him from contesting and winning the seat for the ruling party.

‘’ I’m contesting the primaries, I should go unopposed at Asawase not anyone ,the person they want him to go unopposed is not marketable ,he disappointed the party in the 2016 elections so why should we allow him to do more damage to the party whiles I can wrestle the seat from the NDC’ He stressed

Mr. Ibrahim told Ashh Fm that, the regional executive committee is doing more harm to the party than good.

‘’I will be filing my nomination forms on Thursday 1st August at the constituency party’s office afterwards I would address the media ‘’.
